The Emperors TombThe first emperors tomb is located under a deep mound of dirt. The tomb itself is about as big as a football pitch.
The tomb is said to have a a 3D map of all of china complete with rivers oceans and swampland's filled with mercury. There was some kind of machine that would circulate the mercury, and as long as that machine was working and the rivers and oceans kept flowing the emperor would continue to rule the whole of china, in his Minnie, enclosed world. |
The Terracotta army |
The figures, dating from approximately the late third century BCE, were discovered in 1974 by local farmers in Lintong District, Xi'an, Shaanxi province. The figures vary in height according to their roles, with the tallest being the generals. The figures include warriors, chariots and horses. Estimates from 2007 were that the three pits containing the Terracotta Army held more than 8,000 soldiers, 130 chariots with 520 horses and 150 cavalry horses, the majority of which remained buried in the pits nearby Other terracotta non-military figures were found in other sub tombs, including officials, acrobats, strongmen and musicians. The Terracotta Army was demanded by emperor Qin to protect him from enemy's, and to entertain him during the afterlife.

Other sub tombs |
Pit two has cavalry and infantry units as well as war chariots and is thought to represent a military guard. Pit three is the command post, with high-ranking officers and a war chariot. Pit four is empty, perhaps left unfinished by its builders.
There are many more pits/tombs but these are the main 4. |
Question- Do you have any other theories, other than to protect him, of why the emperor built the terracotta warriors?
