The BeginingThe warring states period was a time before china had become one. During this short time, all of the emperors of the states had growing numbers of enemy's and their chances of getting over-thrown were dramatically rising so in an attempt to lower these statistics decided to go to war with another state to try to gain more land and with that more security.
The problem with going to war in ancient chinaThe problem that the states faces when going to war was that all of their troupes were busy fighting in one location and an ambushed attempt to conquer the state whilst their army is absent could be fatal to the state.
The unificationThe unification of ancient china was achieved by the first emperor Qin. it happened during the warring states time, when all of the states were vulnerable.
Timeline- The first state to be taken by Qin was Han. Han was targeted first by Qin probably because of its size and weakness. it had been attacked many times in the last 6 months before Qin's attack of which each one made it weaker. The second state was Zhao. There then was the state Yan, Then went Wei, Soon after went Chu, And finally the state of Qi gave it self up without a fight! Finally after many years emperor Qin achieved his biggest dream, to unify China. |
Follow up question- Was it in some pattern that enabled Qin to move to a better offensive lines?
